You access the Installation Console of your server by connecting a computer to the LAN port and by using a web browser to access the Installation Console:
Step 1: Connect the LAN port
Plug one end of a network cable into the LAN port of your computer (typically your laptop) and the other end into the LAN port on the server. If you have a HA cluster of two servers - just connect the cable to the LAN port on any of the servers.
Step 2: Configure the IP address of your computer
Configure the LAN (Ethernet) interface of your computer to have the following IP address:
- IP Address: 169.254.0.2
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
A default gateway and DNS Server are NOT required.
How to configure the IP address on your computer depends on the operating system you are using on your computer and below are links articles to explain for the different operating systems:
- How to set a Static IP Address in Microsoft Windows
- How to set a Static IP Address in Apple Mac OS X
- How to set a Static IP Address in Linux Ubuntu
Step 3: Power on the server
Power on the server(s) by pressing the power button on the front. If you have two servers in a HA cluster, press the power button on both of the servers.
Step 4: Wait for the server to start
Wait 5 minutes for the server(s) to complete its first boot checks and startup the Installation Console.
In this time we recommend you access the Commissioning Console and double check you have entered all the necessary information.
Step 5: Access the Installation Console
Open a web browser on your computer, and go to the URL http://169.254.0.1 to access the Installation Console.
We recommend using the Google Chrome or Firefox browser to use the Installation Console.
Now you can proceed to the next stage, so please view the article titled Configure the server using the Installation Console.
